Marine Magnetic Level Gauge

Marine Magnetic Level Gauge

Introduction:

A marine magnetic level gauge is an instrument used to measure the liquid level in tanks or containers aboard marine vessels, such as ships and offshore platforms. It provides a reliable and accurate indication of the liquid level, allowing operators to monitor and control the quantity of fluids in various onboard systems.

The working principle of a marine magnetic level gauge involves the use of magnets and magnetic coupling. The gauge consists of a float that moves up and down with the liquid level inside the tank. The float contains a permanent magnet, and as it rises or falls, it affects the magnetic field around it.

Externally, on the outside of the tank or container, there is a magnetic level indicator (MLI) that houses a series of small magnets or magnetic flags arranged in a vertical column. These magnets or flags are enclosed within a transparent tube or a housing with sight glasses. The movement of the float inside the tank corresponds to the movement of the magnetic flags outside the tank.
