Description:
A semi-circular rubber fender is a specialized protective device used in various maritime applications. It is designed to absorb and dissipate the energy generated by the impact between a vessel and a dock, jetty, or another vessel, thereby preventing damage to both the vessel and the structure.
The fender is typically made from high-quality rubber compounds that possess excellent elasticity, durability, and resistance to environmental factors such as seawater, UV radiation, and temperature variations. Its semi-circular shape allows it to effectively distribute and absorb the impact forces, minimizing the risk of structural damage.
The fender is usually installed horizontally at the waterline or slightly above it, offering protection during berthing and mooring operations. Its design enables it to deform and compress under pressure, acting as a cushion to reduce the peak forces exerted on the vessel or structure. This deformation helps dissipate the energy of impact and provides a smooth contact surface to minimize abrasion and stress on the vessel's hull or the dock structure.
Semi-circular rubber fenders are available in various sizes and configurations to accommodate different vessel types, sizes, and berthing conditions. They may feature an external grooved pattern, which enhances grip and minimizes sliding when in contact with the vessel's hull. Introduction:
Semi-circular rubber fender is also called type D rubber fender, it can be pre-curved, chamfered and drilled to aid installation at a relatively low cost and can also be cut to the length required.
It is an attractive option due to its long term durability and low cost. Semi-Circular rubber fender is suitable for relatively smaller docks where it acts as a great protective medium for small or medium-sized vessel berthings. It’s ideal for dock, tugboats, fishing vessels, barges, small boats,etc.. It’s also commonly used on pontoons and on inland waterways for lock protection.
