China Shipbuilding Industry Association released January-October ship statistics show that from January to October, the country's shipbuilding completion volume of 34.56 million deadweight tonnes, an increase of 12% year-on-year; the volume of new orders 61.06 million deadweight tonnes, an increase of 63.3% year-on-year. As of the end of October, the volume of hand-held orders was 133.82 million DWT, an increase of 28.1% year-on-year. from January to October, China's shipbuilding completion, new orders and hand-held orders accounted for 49.7%, 67% and 54.4% of the world's market share, respectively.
From January to October, China's ship exports amounted to $21.14 billion, a year-on-year increase of 21 per cent. Among the exported ship products, bulk carriers, oil tankers and container ships still dominate. Export ships accounted for 85.7 per cent, 94.1 per cent and 93.8 per cent of the country's completed shipbuilding volume, new orders and hand-held orders.
