Comparison of lifeboat types |
|
Open type lifeboat |
An open lifeboat is a traditional lifeboat that has no cover and only a temporary roof. It provides poor crew protection. |
Totally enclosed lifeboat |
The fully enclosed lifeboat is equipped with a rigid closed roof, which can protect the crew from cold and heat. The hull of the fully enclosed lifeboat and the material of the rigid enclosed roof are flame retardant or non-combustible. |
Partially enclosed lifeboat |
Partially closed lifeboats are provided with rigid roofs only at the bow and stern. The length of the head and tail cover should not be less than 20% of the length of the boat. The middle part is provided with a folding top cover, which forms a windproof cover with the rigid top cover of the head and tail. |
