Marine Oil Separator
1. Brief Description of Marine Oil Separator
The marine disc oil separator uses the principle of different density in the mixed liquid and different settling speeds in the centrifugal force field to achieve the purpose of separating and stratifying or allowing the solid particles in the liquid to settle.
Marine disc oil separators are mainly used to remove water and magazines from the fuel and lubricating oil of marine diesel engines and other equipment to reduce the wear of mechanical equipment and extend the life of mechanical equipment. The heavy diesel oil separated by the oil separator can be used instead of light diesel oil, thereby greatly reducing production costs. It can also be used to purify and clarify mineral oil and similar materials in the chemical, food, and pharmaceutical industries.

3. Working Principle of Marine Oil Separator
Separator machine mainly consists of blow, vertical axis, horizontal axis, machine frame, speed measuring device, braking device and motor.
The material get into the disk area in the blow. The different density oil, water and residue will get different centrifugal. Thus the material is separated. The separated oil will be output through centrifugal pump, the separated water will be thrown out through the set of regulating rings and drained through the sewage port. Impurities are manually discharged from the slag discharge outlet.
4. Marine Oil Separator Design
The marine oil separator comprises a frame consisting of the frame lower part, the intermediate part and the frame top part with a frame hood.
The separator bowl is driven by an electric motor via a flat-belt power transmission and bowl spindle. The motor drive is equipped with a friction coupling to prevent overload.
The bowl is of disc type and hydraulically operated at sludge discharges. The hollow bowl spindle features an impeller which pumps closing water from a built-in tank to the operating system for sludge discharge.
The main inlets and outlets are shown with their connection numbers in the illustration.
5. Marine Oil Separator outline of Function
The separation process takes place in the rotating bowl. Unseparated oil is fed into the bowl through the inlet. The oil is cleaned in the bowl and leaves the separator through the outlet via a paring chamber. Impurities heavier than the oil are collected in the sludge space at the bowl periphery and removed automatically at regular intervals.
There are no contacting surfaces between process rotating parts and stationary parts (inlet, outlet, feed devices), and the interfacing surfaces are not sealed. As the separation process is carefully balanced regarding pressures and fluid levels, any leakages will not occur as long as the correct running conditions are maintained.
