Introduction:

Stud link anchor chain cable is abbreviated to SLAC cable. This chain is flush butt welded. It is widely used to connect ship body and anchor. The common grades of this chain are grade 2 and grade 3. Previously, there is grade 1 anchor chain, but it is kicked out due to very low proof load and breaking load. We can supply a wide range of chain diameter from 12.5mm to 162mm. The length of chain can be customized by request. Excepting SLAC cable, we also supply other anchor chains.

When Should Replace Anchor Chain:

Anchor chains are a critical component of a vessel's anchoring system and should be replaced when they become worn or damaged to ensure safe and reliable operation. Here are some common signs that indicate it may be time to replace the anchor chain:

Corrosion: Over time, anchor chains can become corroded due to exposure to saltwater and other environmental factors. If the chain shows signs of significant corrosion or pitting, it may need to be replaced.

Wear: Anchor chains can become worn due to friction and repeated use. If the chain links appear to be significantly worn, it may be time to replace the chain.

Deformation: If the chain links, shackles, or connections are bent, cracked, or deformed, the chain should be replaced immediately.

Length: If the anchor chain has been shortened due to wear or damage, it may no longer be long enough to provide proper holding power. In this case, the chain should be replaced with a longer chain.

Age: Even if the anchor chain appears to be in good condition, it should be replaced after a certain period of time. The exact lifespan of an anchor chain can vary depending on the type and quality of the chain, as well as the conditions it has been exposed to.

It's important to conduct regular inspections of the anchor chain to identify any signs of wear or damage. If any issues are identified, the chain should be replaced promptly to ensure safe and reliable operation. Additionally, it's important to follow the manufacturer's guidelines for the lifespan and replacement of the anchor chain based on its specific type and size.
