    Anchor Swivel Forerunner

    Anchor Swivel Forerunner

    Description:

Anchor swivel forerunner is the most common swivel link used on vessels. It is also called anchor chain swivel group. It is used to connect the anchor and anchor chain. The end link is designed to fit the anchor shackle and the common link is used to attach to the Kenter shackle. Anchor swivel forerunner consisting of a common link, two enlarged links, swivel and an end link.

    Anchor and Chain Connection Way:

There are several ways to connect an anchor chain to an anchor, but the most common method is by using a shackle or a joining link. Here are the steps to connect an anchor chain to an anchor using a shackle:

First, ensure that the anchor and the chain are both clean and free of any debris or corrosion.

Next, insert the shackle pin through the anchor shank and the chain link. Make sure that the pin is inserted through the holes in the shackle and the chain link.

Tighten the shackle pin using pliers or a wrench. Make sure that the pin is tightened securely so that it does not come loose while the vessel is at anchor.

Check the connection by pulling on the chain to ensure that the shackle is securely fastened. If there is any play in the connection, tighten the shackle pin further.

It is important to note that the shackle or joining link used to connect the chain to the anchor should be strong enough to withstand the weight and forces that the chain will be subjected to while at anchor. It is also important to inspect the connection regularly for signs of wear, corrosion, or damage and to replace any worn or damaged components as soon as possible.
