A stainless steel anchor windlass is an anchor windlass that is constructed primarily of stainless steel materials. Stainless steel is a corrosion-resistant material that is highly durable and long-lasting, making it a popular choice for marine applications where exposure to saltwater and other harsh conditions can cause other materials to degrade or fail over time. A stainless steel anchor windlass typically consists of a stainless steel motor housing, gypsy, chain wheel, and other components, which are designed to work together to raise and lower the anchor and anchor rode. The motor is usually an electric motor, which powers the windlass through a gearbox, which drives the gypsy or chain wheel to haul the anchor up or lower it down.
