Marine Electric Capstan
Application
A Marine Electric Capstan is a type of machinery used in marine and offshore operations for various tasks such as mooring, anchoring, towing, and cargo handling. The capstan is an electrically powered winch that rotates a drum around which a cable or rope is wrapped. Electric Capstans are also used for cargo handling operations, such as loading and unloading containers or other cargo from the deck of a vessel. They can be used with various types of cargo handling equipment, such as cranes, hoists, and davits, to provide a safe and efficient cargo handling system.
According to shaft center line orientation, there are electric vertical capstan and electric horizontal capstan. The electric capstans can be incorporated direct into the deck construction by means of a foundation pipe piece. The foundation is open at the bottom and makes it easy to connect the motor from below deck.
