Zinc Alloy Sacrificial Anode For Ballast Tank
1. Description
Zinc anodes are also commonly used in ballast water tanks to provide cathodic protection to the metal components of the tank. Ballast water tanks are used to maintain the stability and trim of a ship, and they are filled with seawater that is pumped in and out of the tanks as needed. The metal components of the tank, including the hull, piping, and pumps, are at risk of corrosion due to exposure to the seawater.
Zinc anodes provide sacrificial protection by corroding in place of the metal components, thereby extending their service life. The anodes are typically installed on the metal components of the tank, and they are designed to corrode at a slower rate than the metal components. The anodes are connected to the metal components using bolts or welds, and they are replaced periodically as they corrode.
