Marine Stern Thruster
Application
A marine stern thruster is a type of propulsion system used in ships and boats to provide additional maneuverability and control. It consists of a propeller mounted in a tunnel at the stern of the vessel, perpendicular to the direction of travel, and is powered by an electric or hydraulic motor. Stern thrusters are typically used in larger vessels, such as cargo ships and tankers, where high levels of thrust are required to maneuver in and out of ports or in tight spaces. They can provide excellent maneuverability in a variety of marine environments, allowing the vessel to move sideways, forwards, or backwards as required. Stern thrusters are controlled using a joystick or a computerized system, which allows for precise and smooth maneuvering of the vessel. They can also be integrated with other ship systems, such as GPS and autopilot, to provide seamless operation.
