Aft Marine Tunnel Thruster
Application
The thruster is mainly used when the ship navigates in a narrow waterway, leans on a wharf, or turns a head, and the conventional rudder equipment is difficult or impossible to operate. It is also commonly used in ship operations in harsh environments. The advantages of marine aft tunnel thrusters include increased maneuverability, improved safety during docking and mooring operations, and reduced reliance on tugboats or other assistance vessels. They can also improve the efficiency of vessel operations, as they allow for more precise and efficient use of engine power. However, aft marine tunnel thrusters can be limited in their thrust and may not be suitable for all vessel types or operating conditions. They may also produce more noise and vibration compared to other types of propulsion systems. Overall, aft marine tunnel thrusters are a highly effective solution for larger vessels that require additional maneuverability and control in a variety of marine environments. The choice between fixed pitch or controllable pitch will depend on the specific requirements of the vessel and the application.
