Marine Transverse Thruster
A marine transverse thruster is a type of propulsion system used in ships and boats to provide additional maneuverability and control. It consists of a propeller mounted horizontally in a tunnel on the side of the vessel, perpendicular to the direction of travel. Transverse thrusters are typically used in larger vessels, such as cargo ships and tankers, where high levels of thrust are required to maneuver in and out of ports and harbors. They can provide excellent maneuverability in challenging marine environments, allowing the vessel to move sideways, forwards or backwards as required.
Transverse thrusters can be controlled using a joystick or a computerized system, which allows for precise and smooth maneuvering of the vessel. They can also be integrated with other ship systems, such as GPS and autopilot, to provide seamless operation.
