Marine Tunnel Thruster
Application
A marine tunnel thruster is a type of propulsion system used in ships, boats, and other watercraft that provides directional control and maneuverability. It is a propeller-like device that is mounted in a tunnel on the bow or stern of a vessel, and it operates by pushing water through the tunnel to generate a sideways force that can be used to turn the ship.
It is used to provide thrust to the vessel to move sideways. The thruster is mainly used when the ship navigates in a narrow waterway, leans on a wharf or turns a head, and the conventional rudder equipment is difficult or impossible to operate. It is also commonly used in ship operations in harsh environments.
Marine tunnel thrusters are divided into fixed pitch tunnel thruster (FP) and controllable pitch tunnel thruster (CP). According to the source of power, there are three types: electric driven, hydraulic driven and diesel engine driven. According to the drive types, there are L-drive bow thruster and Z-drive bow thruster.
Bow thruster provide thrust to the vessel to move sideways. Bow thruster are divided into: controllable pitch bow thruster(CP), fixed pitch bow thruster(FP), contra-rotating propeller bow thruster, single propeller bow thruster and retractable bowthruster.
From the design stage to dispatch, our internal quality assurance systems fully comply with marine class standard. In addition, third- party surveyors will check the process of design and fabricating to ensure the marine winch complies with all relevant specifications.
